PureAire vs. rki instruments inc.

The following information compares an RKI Instruments Inc. GD-K77D gas monitor, using a disposable sensor cell verses the PureAire Monitoring Systems gas monitor, using a renewable sensor cell.  There are many differences between a RKI Instruments, Inc monitor and a PureAire gas detector, especially when comparing maintenance schedules and operation.

RKI Instruments Inc. GD-K77D monitor warrants gas alarm equipment to be free from defects in materials and workmanship, and performance for a period of one year from date of shipment from RKI Instruments, Inc.1 Calibration should be done on a periodic basis, when you install a new sensor, or notice unusual gas readings.2 PureAire has a two-year warranty on sensor cells and transmitters.

RKI Instruments Inc. GD-K77D monitor recommends monthly maintenance that requires you check the proper functioning of the flow meter, power light, LED display, and dust filter.2 RKI Instruments Inc. also mentions a Semi-annual maintenance for a GD-K77D monitor, which requires that you perform a zero adjustment, an alarm test, check the gas inlet and outlet, and replace the sensor or dust filter if required 2. PureAire recommends a maintenance schedule to calibrate our sensor cell every 6 months. PureAire does not use dust filters, and requires minimal maintenance for typical operation.

RKI Instruments, Inc. GD-K77D monitor operate in a temperature range of 0-40 C, and a humidity Range of 30-85% relative humidity.3 Many of the PureAire sensor cells can operate in 100% RH condensing environments with virtually zero drift.  PureAire’s renewable sensor cell can operate outdoors in Arizona summer heat or an Alaska winter without the use of coolers and cell heaters.
